ECOLAND 4000

I was really surprised when I saw this building near SM Matina.  It must have been ages since I last visited Davao because I did not notice this structure before.  I think this is the first condo in the city (correct me if I'm wrong).  This is a big development and many are following it.  Davao is really moving forward.  But I just hope that Davao is not just about buildings, malls, and bars.  Let us protect and preserve our values and culture.

JAGUAR GAMEFARM

Do you know someone who is into fighting cocks?  Just let me know and drop a comment.  I know the owner of this farm.  He just won a 5 cock derby last August during the Kadayawan celebration.

TAPS (Torres St.)

I already mentioned on my previous post that I love eating at TAPS.  Here are some photos of their TORREST ST. Branch.  I ordered TOSILOG for take out before leaving the city.

AHFAT SEAFOODS PLAZA

Sea cucumber with beef tendons

Oyster cake

Fried intestines

Sweet and sour pork

I like Ahfat Seafoods Plaza a lot.  Their food is great.  When you're in Davao City, don't fail to visit the place.  They are located at Victoria Plaza parking lot.  I don't even know what my favorite is.  Everything in their menu is fantastic.

SUGAR MUNCH DESSERTS

Yesterday, we bought Mocha Torte from Sugar Munch Desserts at Marfori Heights.  It is the first time I tried their cake and I must admit it is really very good.  The cake is creamy and it just melts in your mouth.  You should try one yourself to experience what I am talking about.  The store attendant was also kind enough to let me take photos of their mouth-watering delicacies.

UP Mindanao

Photos shown above are taken at UP Mindanao, Mintal, Tugbok District, Davao City.  The first photo was the famous oblation statue and the rest are paintings that can be found inside the building.

DAVAO DENCIA'S RESTAURANT

Davao Dencia's Restaurant used to be a small goto / lugaw house along Ilustre (I'm not sure if it is Ilustre.  But it is around that area.)  They have unconventional wooden tables that looks amazing.  My favorite is their lugaw partnered with tokwa't baboy.  Now, the restaurant is already a  two storey modern building but they still keep their distinctive tables.  They can already accommodate functions like wedding, birthday, christening, and many more.  Everytime I'm in Davao, I always try to order their lugaw and tokwa't baboy.  My new favorite is their fresh lumpia.  Yummy!
When you're in Davao, don't forget to try their famous lugaw.  They are part of Davao' s history.

MIDNIGHT SALE

Everytime there is something to celebrate like Kadayawan this week, malls in Davao City always have MIDNIGHT SALE on weekends.  This means that peole can shop until 12 midnight.  Victoria Plaza, Gaisano Mall and SM will have their midnight sale this August 23.  I wish I can go to these places because I need to buy a gift for my son's birthday.  But sometimes it is better to buy things on regular days because the lines are usually long during these sale events.

Other events wherein they usually have midnight sale:  Christmas, New Year, Halloween, Araw ng Dabaw, Summer, Back to School, and Valentine's Day.

SEAWALL

QUEENSLAND MOTEL

We went strolling the other day and we decided to check out the seawall at Matina.  The place really improved.  The first time I visited the place it was just a plain seawall.  But now, it has the controversial statue of David, a shallow pool that houses hammer head sharks, tables, chairs, street lights, and a fence that houses ostrich.  Pretty impressive.  To think this is at the back of the famous QUEENSLAND MOTEL.

PENONG'S

I've never eaten inside Penong's near the People's Park.  We always order take out.  We usually buy pork barbeque, liver, and gizard.  That is why I always wonder why the place is always jampacked.  Was it because of their unlimited rice offer?  The price?  Or the taste?  People are lining up outside to wait for any available tables.  The waiter is even taking an advance order of the waiting customers.  With regards to their barbeque, it tasted okay.  I like their liver because it's not overcooked.

TAPS

I miss TAPS. My favorite is their TOSI. I can still remember that whenever me and my friends would go out during Saturdays, we always had lunch at TAPS. The price of TOSI was still P23.00 at that time. But even though I'm not always at Davao anymore, I still squeze in some time to visit the place and order my favorite TOSI. How about you? What's your favorite combination on their menu?
